Just a few notes about John Bass.
We never met although we were in the same location at times. Prior to moving to Kenya in the 1940’s his Company 242 company, RASC, was inspected by the CIMT, an RASC Inspection team, I was on that Team. So that was the first time. Later in Kenya, we inspected them again so that was the second time. Although we had not met, we could relate stories to each other one involved his Workshop officer .who had a Star motor vehicle and I seem to remember John telling me he had on occasion polished that car. He later went to Nairobi. I believe that this was when he had a serious illness that resulted in his leaving the Service.
He seemed to have a very good career in Civy Street but I am afraid my memory fails me now.
In passing ,today the 8th of April was the day I entered Beachley Camp.82 years ago.
